The Official Home of the University of Saint Francis Cougars

Tues., Dec. 30, 2008

CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- Just when the University of Saint Francis turned up the heat on No. 18 Cedarville University, the Lady Cougars came down with a case of road chill and suffered a frosty 70-47 loss to the Lady Jackets on Tuesday night.
"We'd cut the deficit to four with just over eight minutes to play, but after the timeout Cedarville took over," USF coach Gary Andrews said.
After trailing as many as 12 pts 36-24 with 15:37 to play in the game, USF rallied to within four, 47-43, on a 3-ptr by Kym Bowsher and a short jumper by Marie Kaufmann with 8:28 to play. Kaufmann, the leading scorer in the Mid-Central College Conference, didn't score again and the No. 18 Yellowjackets outscored the Lady Cougars 23-4 in the final eight minutes. Jess Teubert led USF (8-8) with 16 points, Jamika Banks added 12, 10 in the first half, and Kaufmann scored 11 points. USF led 13-7 in the first half, but trailed 28-20 at halftime.
Alison Lemon scored 26 points to lead Cedarville (9-3).
Now 8-8, the Lady Cougars return home for the first home game of 2009 on Saturday, but the competition just gets tougher -- 11th-ranked Cornerstone University out of Grand Rapids, Mich. Tip-off is 2 p.m. in the final non-conference game of the season. It will be USF's first home game since Nov. 30.
