 Lady Cougars Defeated Calumet College  9-0

  WHITING, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis defeated Calumet College 9-0 on Saturday, August 23.
  This was the first match and  win for the Lady Cougars.  "The match was a really good first match for the girls. We got strong contributions from singles and doubles, an excellent way to start the season. I'm looking forward to how we keeping improving each match and was encouraged by the way the team played today."
  Returning veterans No. 1 Renee Shetterly, No. 3 Andrea Yoder, No. 5 Nicole Cress and No. 6 Cortney Shepard all won in two sets. 
  Freshman Brittany Witte played a three-setter to win the #4 singles.  After dropping the first set 2-6, she settled down and dominated the second set 6-0. Then fighting off heat and exhaustion, she won the third set 7-6 with a 7-2 win in the tie-breaker.
  Cress, a senior who played the #5 spot, won 6-4, 6-0.  The first set was a close, hard fought battle, but in the second set Cress moved the ball around and kept her opponent moving around the court.
