2009 USF Tennis Outlook

Tennis Team - 2009The upcoming season for the University of Saint Francis Women's Tennis team will be exciting and challenging.  With the graduation of four seniors, and only four returning members of last year's team, Coach Harrow has her work cut out for her.  "This is going to be a big rebuilding year for our team," said Coach Harrow.  "I look forward to the upcoming season with the 5 new players adding their skills to the talents of our returning members."

The returning Lady Cougars include sophomores Lauren Mey and Brittany Witte.  Juniors Renee Shetterly and Julianne Haines will be this year's captains.  Renee played #1 singles and #1 doubles her freshman and sophomore years.  Julianne played #5 singles and #2 doubles during the spring season of her sophomore year.  During their freshman year Lauren played #2 singles and #2 doubles and Brittany played #4 singles and #2 doubles.  Coach Harrow stated, "I'm excited about my returning players.  They all work very hard and are fun to coach."

The new players to the Lady Cougars team this fall are:  Abbey Cox from Alexandria, IN, Amanda Lease from Rochester, IN, Rachael Anspach from Fort Wayne, IN, Kinzie Gardner from Celina, OH, and Sarah Vietmeier, from Wauseon,OH.  Abbe played number 2 singles at Alexandria Monroe High School for 3 years with a record of 32-20.  Amanda played doubles at Rochester Community High School with a record of 32-21.  Rachael played number 1 doubles at Bishop Lures with a record of 8-1 for SAC her senior year. 

The Lady Cougars will again compete at Wildwood Racquet Club.  "We're very fortunate to have a high quality tennis center so close to USF," Harrow said.  "We're thankful for their generous support throughout both the fall and the spring seasons."
