  Earlier this spring, Erica Leeper and her twin sister Alyssa committed to the University of Saint Francis softball program.

   Erica was named All-Northeast Hoosier Conference first team on Tues., June 2. Homestead is 28-0 this season, was ranked No. 2 in the final 4A poll, and will play DeKalb in the first game of the Pendleton Heights Regional on Saturday. On May 21 in a 13-0 win over Snider, Erica belted two two-run doubles in HHS's 25th win without a loss.

Spartans' twins commit to Lady Cougars softball program

   Homestead High School seniors and twins Alyssa and Erica Leeper have committed to continue educational and athletic opportunities at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Ind.

   The twin daughters of Tracy Leeper helped Homestead win the 2008 Northeast Hoosier Conference championship in 2008. Erica was an All-NHC first-team selection in 2008. She hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the Spartans win that clinched the NHC title. Homestead also won a sectional title in 2008. Erica finished with a .342 batting average and 26 RBi in 2008.

   As freshmen and sophomores, Alyssa and Erica attended Elmhurst High School. Alyssa was All-Summit Athletic Conference honorable mention in 2006 and All-SAC second team in 2007. She was named MVP at Elmhurst in 2007.

   At Homestead Alyssa has played second, third and left field. Erica has caught, played in the outfield and served as designated hitter.
