  GOSHEN, Ind. - Ethan Hussey, a 6-foot-3 senior at Goshen High School, has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and basketball career at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Ind.

  Hussey played guard for GHS in 2008-09 averaging 19.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.2 blocks - all team-leading figures. He shot 55 Hussey signspercent overall, 37 percent from 3-point range and 86 percent from the free-throw line. His 426 points in 2008-09 ranks No. 9 on the GHS single-season list and that total includes a 35-point game against Fairfield, the fifth best single-game total in GHS history.

   Post-season honors for Hussey included Elkhart Truth All-Area 1st Team, Goshen News All-Area, 1st Team, unanimous All-Northern Lakes Conference first team, Goshen News Class 4A All-Sectional Team and was one of 25 Indiana players named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State First Team. He considered Marian College and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, but settled with the Cougars.
  "Obviously, he's a skilled player, but what I like most is his competitive spirit," said USF Head Coach Jeff Rekeweg, who projects Hussey as an off guard.
   "We're pretty well set at the point, but he's able to do some things off the dribble and has great ability to shoot the ball," Rekeweg said. "I think we've got some guys who will be able to create help situations for the defense and give Ethan some opportunities."
