FORT WAYNE, Ind. – This week it’s Daniel Carter back-to-back.

For the fourth time in five weeks, the University of Saint Francis has had a member of the football team named Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Player-of-the-Week. Carter has been selected for the second week in a row after helping the fourth-ranked Cougars hold off No. 20 Walsh University 20-14 on Saturday night.

Carter (Indianapolis, IN / Decatur Central H.S.) finished with 146 yards rushing on 20 carries, 7.3 yards per carry, and scored a 42-yard TD that proved to be the difference in the fifth USF win of the season. Carter has rushed for 100-or more yards in four of USF’s first five games.

Carter, a senior, also scored the Cougars first TD taking a short pass from QB Shaine Tierney and weaving his way into the end zone for a 20-yard score. He finished with 244 all-purpose yards including four receptions for 54 yards including.

USF DE Stephen Whited and OLB Troy Hudson have been selected earlier this season. This is the 61st time in the 12-year history of the program a Cougar has been selected. Carter has earned four weekly honors – twice in 2009. He was named for special teams and offense one time each in 2008.
