FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Saint Francis football team has 11 players named to the 2009 Mid-States Football Association Mideast League all-conference team.
The Cougars, who finished 7-3 overall and 5-2 in league play, had 
six players named first team. Senior running back Daniel Carter (Indianapolis / Decatur Central H.S.), senior linebacker Carl Thomas (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carroll H.S.) and senior cornerback Donavon Evans (Indianapolis, Ind. / North Central H.S.) led the way each getting their third all-league selection.
Senior center Brendan Carragher (Crown Point, Ind. / Andrean H.S.), senior defensive end Stephen Whited (Columbus, Ind. / Columbus North H.S.) and senior offensive tackle Ryan Kauchak (Syracuse, Ind. / Wawasee H.S.) were first- team selections for the second consecutive season.
Second-team selections from USF included senior wide receiver Brian Schultz (Decatur, Ind. / Bellmont H.S.), senior offensive tackle Justin Vela (Roanoke, Ind. / Huntington North H.S.), and senior outside linebacker Troy Hudson (Peru, Ind. / Peru H.S.).
Senior defensive end Travis Craven (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Snider H.S.) and senior outside linebacker Jarrell Hunter (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Harding H.S.) were honorable mention selections.
Carter became just the third back in MSFA history to rush for more than 4,000 yards in a career finishing with 4,005, also a USF record. He also finished as the career all-purpose yardage leader in the
MSFA with 7,171 yards. He averaged 105 yards per carry in 2009 and finished with 1,050 yards rushing, the only back in USF history to post 
back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. He also finished as the USF career scoring leader with 396 points.
