Cougars Compete At Notre Dame

South Bend, IN-The USF men's and women's cross country teams competed at the National Catholic Invitational held on the campus of Notre Dame on Friday.

The women's team was 28th out of 35 teams while the men were 32 out of 33 teams.  Notre Dame won the team championship on both the men's and women's side.

For the Lady Cougars, leading the way for the second meet in a row was freshman Ericka Williams who ran a time of 20:03 over the 5k course to place 86th out of the 283 runner field.  She was followed by Amy Roberts who ran a 20:46 to place 126 and Katie Gereghty was 346 with a time of 21:44.  Wendy Mahlan was the next USF runner as she ran a time of 22:28 to place 352 and Lynn Altevogt was the 5th runner for the Cougars with a time of 23:17.

On the men's side, senior James Dueling led USF with a time of 28:37 for the 8k to place 148 out of the 267 runners.  Alex Bush was the next Cougar across the line with a time of 29:55 followed by Ian Hartman who ran a 31:01.  Running his first cross country race in almost two years and his first ever 8k was Josh Fullenkamp as he finished in 33:32 and was followed by Mykal Thomas in 33:42.

USF takes the next week off before competing at Huntington on October 4th.
