Upland, IN-The men’s and women’s cross country teams opened their season on Saturday September 13th at the Taylor Invitational.  The men placed 5th out of 6 teams while the women placed 4th out of 6 teams.

 

Leading the way for the women was freshman Ericka Williams.  Williams ran to a fifth place finish with a time of 20:28 while junior Amy Roberts finished sixth in 20:56.  Running her first collegiate 5k and finishing as the third runner for the Lady Cougars was Katie Gereghty who ran a time of 22:16 to place 25th.  She was followed by Tiffany Bremer and Wendy Mahlan who finished in 34th and 35 places with times of 23:26 and 23:31.

 

In the men’s race senior James Dueling finished the 8k in 20th place with a time of 29:47.  Freshman Ian Hartman was 28th in 31:17 while Alex Bush finished in 31st place in 31:30.  Kyle Murray of Marion College was the winner in 27:14.

 

The Cougars will travel to South Bend, IN on Friday to compete in the National Catholic Meet.  The JV race will be at 3:30pm while the women’s varsity will be at 4:15pm and the men’s varsity at 5pm.
